TEAM ASSOCIATED RC10GT:

MY RC10GT

Let’s go NITRO!!

After playing with my electric cars for a few years, I got the “Nitro Bug”. I was getting tired of charging batteries all the time. With these gas vehicles you can run all day if you want, you just keep adding fuel until you’ve had enough.

I knew I wanted a stadium truck for my first gas R/C vehicle. For the same reason I bought my Stadium Blitzer..(I wanted a vehicle that could be used both on and off-road). I wanted a truck that came with a lot of hop-ups already included. We all know how expensive it gets when shopping for after-market parts. I did most of my research in the “R/C Car Action” magazine. After much rhyme and reason, I decided that the RC10GT was the truck for me. So its off to the Hobby Show again.........

The RC10GT (Team Truck) comes complete with Teflon coated coil-over spring shocks, Stealth ATC gearbox, Pro-Line tires designed especially for the RC10GT, alloy monocoque tub chassis, universal axles, adjustable turnbuckles all around, high performance exhaust, constant pressure 75cc fuel tank, tunable clutch, and a full set of ball bearings.

This kit went together really well. The first thing I noticed was how much this kit was like a precision machine..It was like putting together a fine piece of machinery as apposed to a toy. If you follow the instructions there are really no tips I can add to make it any easier for you.

Because this is such a good machine , I wanted to make sure I added a power plant that was as good a quality. I added an O.S Engines .12 CV-X engine with a pull start. .Because this was my first nitro vehicle, I had a pretty hard time getting this motor started. I broke more pull-ropes than I can remember. I was back and forth to the hobby shop with more and more questions. In the end I discovered I was flooding the engine and that was causing the pull-start rope to bind up because the motor was unable to turn . After I solved this problem, which was more the user than the equipment, I had no more problems. This motor/vehicle goes great. I tear up and down the dirt at full throttle with very little getting in the way. It starts on the first pull every time now.

I add my Pro-Line Road Hawgs and HPI 5 Star Chrome wheels (stolen from my Blitzer) and take this beast to the streets. It handles really good on the smooth asphalt. I get a lot of onlookers when I’m tearing up and down the streets with my RC10GT. Really sounds great too!!

The only future hop-up I plan on adding is a MIP Stinger exhaust. The supplied exhaust is fine, but I think the body would fit better if the exhaust went out the back rather than the side. It would probably look cooler too!!

I run my truck with a Futaba Magnum Sport Transmitter, two Futaba FP-S148 servos and a Futaba FP-R112JE receiver... This radio works O.K. but I do plan on switching to a Futaba Magnum Junior in the near future for better throttle/brake adjustment.

The Paint;

The first thing I did was the black.. I managed to mask this whole vehicle so that I was able to take the tape off in layers as I changed colors. After the black I removed the first layer of tape and sprayed the dark red, then I removed the tape in the area of the neon yellow/white area and sprayed approximately half of that area with the neon yellow. This completed I sprayed over the entire thing with my sprint white. On the outside I used pin-striping to better define the different areas of paint colors. I was pretty happy with the final resulting finish.

Final Thought;??

What more can I say..?? Over-all the performance and quality of this R/C vehicle surpasses anything I have built in the past. Although I really have no vehicles of this caliber to compare it with, I feel that this truck would probably fair pretty well against most of its competitors.. I plan on joining a club this summer ,so I will be sure to let you know just how it fairs , in the future. I would recommend this truck to anyone that is interested in going racing or to anyone who is just interested in having the “best on the block”.... Most of all ,enjoy the fun and excitement of Nitro R/Cing!!

How Much??
