RACE #1-Leading Edge Speedway (Kingston) December 7th:

Testimonials:

Another great event at Leading Edge R/C Speedway as put on! Mike, Tony, Will, and the Pruner family did a great job! The day was filled with great close racing as well!Hope to see everyone at the next race Feb 22/04 and TORC! .....(Tom Wright)

What a great day for a race!! It was good to see lots of drives in most of the classes.....(Darren Pruner)

I thought I would add a little post race comment. There was some really close racing in the mini and rally classes, there was a lot good clean racing mostly throughout the day. .....(Steve Bortolotti)

It was a great day. Thanks to Tamiya/Borgfeldt and LERCS for putting on this race. The day went smoothly and I thought that everyone had a great day. Good company, great prizes, fantastic racing! Many people had a part in making the first 2004 TCS race happen, and "Thanks" to all who did. Finally, thanks to "Tamiya Tom" for one of the best races I have ever had. Woo hooo!I hope everyone made it home safely. The presence of all the Toronto racers was very much appeciated. .....(RealMenRaceMinis)

Overview:

Special Fanx to Darren Pruner (R/C "O" Special Reporter) for the following pics and all his help with the Leading Edge Racing TCS Report
Eager racers test the track and work on their cars in the pit area
great looking overview of track
racers get some practice laps-including Steve Fowler(2nd from right), returning after a very successful TCS California Final(M-Chassis) to lap everyone and claim TQ(M-Chassis) at Kingston
Tony Daicar at Leading Edge mission control
finalists in the concourse competition
Darren Pruner's Concourse winner..c/w hand cut rims and a body that lowers and raises
Tom Wright looks over the eventual winner of the concourse competition..This is a great chance for him to see, first hand, what local racers are capable of doing with their Tamiya rides..Looks like a kid in a candy store
Mike Daicar works in his pit area when he's not working the 'puter
Yolanda Pruner at the Leading Edge snack bar..Family involvement is very prevelant at the Leading Edge track
William Morgan posing for his close-up..Nice profile WDM
GT racers put in some fast laps
You don't have to be a racer to have fun at TCS races..A little "Hand Jive" from Yolanda and Laura
As usual, the Leading Edge trophies are a great keepsake..Nice job guys
Great giveaways from event sponsor, Borgfeldt Canada, included Tamiya TRF aluminum dampers, and MO4L BMW Roadster and the always popular Williams F201 4wd Kit..Every racer received a prize of some sort..
TRF Dampers go to Corey Whiteman..
MO4L BMW Kit goes to Brad Thomson
Williams F201 Kit goes to this lucky racer

RACE #2-Toronto R/C Raceway (Toronto) February 22nd:

Testimonials:

Great turnout for this race..Tom Wright and I were talking about the turnout and thought that maybe this was the largest indoor TCS event to date..
I have been covering these events for the past three years and they have indeed grown each time..
The actual average of all TCS races is 50 per event..Toronto R/C Raceway now has the distinction of hosting the biggest event so far with 74 entries.. John's photo & Hobby has the largest outdoor event at 62 entries.
With this unexpected turnout at the February 22nd TORC TCS event I thought they handled it very well..Although it turned out to be a pretty long day it went off without a glitch..
With some notable regulars not in attendance I'm sure that this year will provide even bigger numbers as has been the trend in the past.. Congrats to all involved for the increasing popularity of these events.. Its great to be part of this growing series and I look forward to the future and what it may hold..
TCS is great for both young and old and both new racers and seasoned pros.. Come out to the next event and see for yourself..
I noticed a few guys 'just visiting' at TORC and know for a fact that they will be in attendance in the near future..
So many guys have joined in these TCS events and learnt so much.. Everytime I attend a TCS race the thing that sticks out the most is how this guy/gal or that guy/gal has improved..
That has a lot to do with the sharing of knowledge..From the guy sitting in your pits, to Tom Wright's expert advice, to being able to discuss set-ups with the best Tamiya drivers in the world..

One word of advice...To you up and coming fast guys who learnt what you now know from the best...When someone asks you what your "speed secret" is remember that someone gave you that advice in the past and pass along what you've learnt..Thats what being a Tamiya TCS racer is all about and if each "generation" passes it on to the next, that can only help to keep the trend growing..
Keep up the great work guys..See ya at the next event.. (The R/C Guy)

Overview:

The very familiar site of Tom Wright from Borgfeldt Canada welcoming all the racers to another great Tamiya TCS event..Wishing all the drivers luck and offering his help to all

A great turnout for the F201 Tamiya Chassis's..This is the largest turnout I've seen of these cars at any TCS event in Canada..And I'm missing a couple here..We had a full field of 7 racers with Mike Steele(yellow Jordan) claiming TQ and a strong victory in his main with two laps on the field..Are these cars fast??Mike won his main with 25 laps...GT2 was won with 25 laps and the best racers in GT1(not including Martin Crisp with 27 laps---WOW!!)was 26 laps

A look at some GT cars ready to do battle..GT1(mod) & GT2(stock) combined to give us 36 entries..Thats awesome...A slight rule change this year really added to the competitiveness and "fun" of these classes...Strictly 19 turn for mod and Sport Tuned 540 motors for stock..Thinking of joining the latter myself..It becomes a little more appealing to those of us not quite "at home" with blistering laps
New to TCS events this year is the Concourse Competition..This Spiderman entry really got the judges 'sense's tingling' and was the eventual winner for Jeremy Gabriel..(and honourable mention should probably go to Dad- Albert-as well)Great job Gabriel...The first time I saw it, I snapped two pics..Must have read the judge's minds, "wink"
In the 'links' section of this TCS review you'll see a link for Mike Steele's M04L Report..Well worth checking out for racers of all levels...So here is Mike Steele working on completely rebuilding a Manta Ray Diff on race day..That, in itself, may be cool to see, but what is really cool is that it's my diff he's rebuilding..Wahoo!!
In Mike's M04L review he states, "better get an electric screwdriver because you only need to crack the gearbox open at a race once to know that it is something you do not want to do after every heat!" in regards to having a diff come loose on you..This is what my M03L chassis looked like after I got the diff out...Not a pretty site..Fanx for the tune up Mike..It worked great..
Some of the "other guys" were making silly comments about how comfortable Tom looked hangin' with TORC's new 'puter gal..I would like to go on record here to say that he was the perfect gentleman and conducted himself as professional as ever..Hey Natasha, just letting you know we are keeping an eye on your guy..
I saw William Fu earlier in the day and joked with him about how it was 'just about his nap time"...He laughed it off and said he had had plenty of sleep the night before(check out previous events...this guy never gets enough nap time)...Sure enough, I snapped this pic an hour later..
Corey Whiteman gave me a sneak peak (this comment brought to you by the fine people at Peak Motors)at his GT1 Tamiya ride...Looks great Corey..Nice Tamiya Red chassis and Peak Motor Box..And Tamiya car stand..Congrats on your 4th place finish in Mod GT1..Good luck in the finals
Finishing just out of the A-Main by a nanosecond I find it helpful to use my 'roving reporter' status to check out some of the faster rides in my class...Just taking a pic for the website Daniel(of Boytoys)...(wink)..Actually Daniel was more than willing to pass on what worked for him..Congrats on that 3rd place finish Daniel..Good luck in the finals
The kids..Its all about the kids..Its great to see the up and coming young guns duking it out at TCS races..I believe these guys were all in the same Rally WRC B-Main..
Here's a few of the young guns lined up to duke it out in the B-Main Rally WRC..Go Team R/C Ontario!!
Brad Thomson's M03 Mini was the car to set the pace all day..TQ and an eventual A-Main finish with Brad lappin' the whole field..This car and driver dominated this event..period!!
2nd in the A-Main(I believe I got all the right cars with the right drivers here)was this MO3L New Mini piloted by Patrick Chan..Great run Patrick..See ya at Jack Astors
Mr. Boytoys himself...Last Year's TCS Team Of The Year Head guy is back and showing his capabilities in his well tuned M03L..I'm off to Boytoys this weekend..Got my parts Daniel??
Señor Tom Wright pilotó su taxi de Tijuana al cuarto lugar en el show..Go grande Tom..Only rápido dos dólares por paseo.
A very consistent run by Nathan Meek all day landing him in the big show and a respectable 5th place finish..Great job Nathan..Look forward to the rematch..
Another great competitor and fun guy to race with, Chris Silver and his M03L New Mini..Well done Chris..Already looking forward to future races together..Fanx for a great day..
This Mini M03 belongs to one of TCS's most improved racers in the past few years..John MacDonald has improved at every race I've attended..Keep up the good work John..

RACE #3-Toronto R/C Raceway (Toronto) April 18th:

Testimonials:

I have to start by adding my own little car handling tips

I had a car that I thought was handling awesome..In fact I thought it was only my driving skill that had me off the pace of the leaders...Then Daniel Chun from Boytoys watched my car in my final qualifier and realized (I did too)that my M03L was on pace with the other cars down the straight..We were bumper to bumper down the whole straight..The place I was loosing time was in the infield..

I was concerned all day that my motor wasn't as fast as the next guy's...But it turns out it wasn't a lack of power that was slowing me down..

This brings us to a term we call "diffing out" (got that from Natham Meek)..We run our diffs as tight as possible...Whether its a stock diff, ball diff or one way..The problem with my M03L turned out to be ride height..At previous races I was too low and I overcompensated for that at this event..It was not overly high..We are talking 1mm spacer type stuff..

Anyhow...Here's what was happening..The ride hieght was enough to give me excessive body roll..Not to the point of coming near to rolling the car but close enough to lift off weight from the inside front of the car..This caused me to lose traction on the front inside tire and cause the wheel to spin..In spinning it was diffing out or taking all the power from the wheel that was planted an applying it to the side that was diffing out..

Solution??...Very easy and very effective..I lowered the whole car about 1mm and the thing was on rails..Unfortunately, it was on rails during practice for my main...A little too late but a lesson learned for sure..

I guess we're never to old to learn... Moving along...Another great race.. The numbers just keep getting bigger and with 81 entries this time, TORC has broken the indoor record again

I would like to see these races get started a little earlier though..Doors open at 8am and we practiced until 11am..Once things were going though, everything went without a glitch and I guess starting an hour earlier wouldn't have made that big of a difference..I will say that efforts were made to speed things up throughout the day and that was appreciated..ie: no breaks and doing the prizes while the mains were being formulated...

A long day, but I think everyone had a great time..AS usual, there were a lot of new faces and a lot of old..

Can't leave without mentioning and congratulating one of Canada's best M-Chassis/F201 racers...Mike Steele was a little under the weather this Sunday 'cause a few fellow R/Cers and friends took him out for a few laps at a Go-Kart track and a few festive liquids at an undetermined location..Stag party for Mike 'cause he's getting hitched soon..Congrats to you and the bride to be Mike...Hope ya have many happy years...(The R/C Guy)

I would like to give many thanks to all you guys who run the last TCS had lots of fun! Thanks go especially to TRFTOM,JerryMan,Patrick.I had alot of qualifying problems with the Car(mini)But learned alot during the last race See you next TCS....(Bon Ramat)

i also had a great time at tcs.it was my first rc race ever . . i learned lots and had fun. i drove a m03 and placed 1st in the b main. i got my first 1/10 rc car a week before the race and i wanted to race. and i am happy i did . thanks to everyone who helps run the fun series ....(Matt Thompson)

RACE #6-Hobby Hobby (Mississauga) June 13th:

Testimonials:

Well, thank you everyone who made it out to the 6th round of the 2004 Tamiya Championship Series. Entry's were out of site! All classes had excellent racing and close at that! It was nice to see lots of new faces out there as well.
I would like to thank Tom from Hobby Hobby for putting together a great event and providing us with a great location to race. Also to Ryan and the RC Guy for there help in making is race a go!
To the racers, thanks for sticking it out into the evening as we ran late, due to the late morning entries.(Tom Wright)

OK..I completely retract my statement regarding how long the previous TORC TCS race was...This race was the longest TCS race I've ever attended...Lots of entries and three qualifiers..Setting up the track and practice time..It just couldn't be made any shorter..
And it was a great day..Really enjoyed it and since both The R/C Kid's and my cars were running pretty good it makes the day go a lot faster
I'd like to thank my fellow racers at this event..I went around the pits and asked a few racers for set-ups..Everyone was more than willing and it was a lot of fun going over the details with them
Also, I'd like to thanks Team Tamiya(you know who you are)and TCS regulars who provided (and still are) me with a lot of tips/info to get my car up to where I think it should be..It really is appreciated(although maybe a little too expensive in some cases..but I'm workin' on it)
Fanx to Tom Bakonyi of Hobby Hobby for another great Hobby Hobby event..With all the time and effort that Tom puts into R/Cing events he really deserves to be part of the TCS series..
Tom Wright..What more can I say..Keep up the good work and we'll see ya at Boytoys!!(The R/C Guy)

Thanks to Tom at Hobby and Hobby and Tom Wright for another great day of racing !! It was a pleasure to watch so many new drivers enjoying the friendly competition, especially mini driver Jarrod Leis who took home the harware in the mini class A final with cool driving and a very well sorted MO3L in his first TCS race ! Looking forward to the next race... (Michael Steele)

Overview:

Mike Steele's latest creation..Awesome Jaguar colours on his F201 chassis
Always nice to take a stroll around the pits and see who's running what..yellow flames on a red car and Tim Horton's coffee..Doesn't get much more Canadian, eh?
Francis Lee hard at work on the car he was to race to 1st in the A-Main GT1..Well deserved victory Francis
The Team Gabriel Stables..F1, GT1, GT2, TG10R & M-Chassis pretty much covers it...
This race brought to you by the fine fellows at HobbyHobby.com...Great show as always guys..Too bad we didn't get the trophy pics..They were outstanding
The Team Fowler pits..Another team that covers and enjoys most aspects of TCS racing..And always on hand to help out fellow R/Cers(namely me)..Fanx again guys..
Team Toenders is becoming a very familiar site at TCS events..They specialize in M-Chassis cars and are getting pretty good at it..Almost as many of them as there is in Team Catricala...Great hangin'/chattin' with you guys again..
More Tim Horton's??..This guy asked me what kind of tools he should bring to a TCS race..I told him, "Bring everything ya got"..uh..Don't know what he was thinkin' he might need a "Case front end loader" for...

James Denis has been a friend of ours for quite a while...Haven't raced him much until recently though..He used to live in Sudbury(or thereabouts)..Now he's down here showin' us how fast our R/C facer friends in the north are..Seen here changing to slicks from snows..Just kiddin' James!!!
Another very fast and knowledgable racer, Philip Do, cranking for the mains...You can find Philip working most of the time at Boytoys..
And the concourse winner..I didn't catch this guy's name(duhh!!!)...But this has got to be one of the finest paint job's I've ever seen on an R/C car..Truly an amazing piece of art(he raced it too!!!)
This is Albert Gabriel's R/C'enstein...Not raced, but he did bring it out for our entertainment..Homebuilt nitro chassis made out of just about every brand you can think of..And that is a 1/10 scale Tamiya Mini body..Nice work Albert
GT2 cars on the grid for the A-Main
Corey Whiteman on the grid for the GT1 A-Main..Fanx again for providing us with that set-up Corey
GT1 A-Main on the grid..Lead by TQ Martin Crisp and eventual winner, Francis Lee, takes up 2nd spot before the start..Some great close racing before this one ended
The R/C Guy has to bring his own personal photographer to get some exposure these days..Fanx to The R/C Kid for this great pic of my Tamiya New Mini..

RACE #7-Over Geared (Vancouver, B.C) June 27th:

Testimonials:

Thank you for our sponsors for making this race possible: Tamiya Canada (Borgfeldt Canada), RC Pro Shop and Putnam Pro Pulsion.
Thanks to all the racers for making this another fun filled and exciting race. Special thanks to all the U.S. racers for pulling out all the stops and it shows. These guys were fast! They managed to take back most of the hardware. Look for us for PAYBACK at the upcommong Burien TCS.
As usual the prizes were plenty and all the racers made out like bandits.
Once again this event shows the great potential of this series to be one of the best races around as everyone that participates enjoy the great racing and fun atmosphere.
Be ready with your Tamiya car next year and experience it yourself. You won't regret it.(Chrisman Coquitlam)

RACE #8-Advance Hobbies (Markham) July 11th:

RACE #9-Boytoys (Mississauga) July 25th:

Testimonials:

Boytoys hosted a Canadian TCS event for the first time ever..I was very impressed with the set-up and commitment that Daniel Chun and crew put into it..They are very deserving to be part of the Canadian TCS circuit and I look forward to another awesome event there next year..
Everyone waited eagerly for the arrival of Tom Wright...Nobody guessed he got himself a new ride to the track..

Nice entrance Tom
That is actually the new craze in Pit areas across this country..Its a Pocket Bike and is now available at Boytoys for approx. $900 Canadian..There are a few different models but some of us were allowed a test drive with this particular one at the Boytoys TCS event..Fanx very much for that Daniel..
I saw Albert Gabriel with this hat and figured he had just stuck a lexan body on his head..Nope..Its an actual Nascar gimmick hat...Nice one Albert...And yes..He wore it all day..Driver's stand and all...

As usual, the concourse competition is becoming very popular at TCS events and John Catricala won the Boytoys TCS Concourse with this Peak Racing themed M03-L New Mini Cooper.

Nice job John..I had ya picked from the start.. This is another nice theme paint job of a Superman Mini Cooper on an M03 chassis

This was my second choice..Didn't catch the guy's name and didn't see much more of this body afterwards..
Both The R/C Kid and I had a great day..We were both searching for a little extra speed in our cars and decided after a respectable 1st qualifier, that some radical changes were due for our 2nd one...
My efforts made very little difference other than keeping me consistent..
The R/C Kid dropped his Rally Slicks for some Rally Block tires..Big mistake...It was like driving on ice..Blew his 2nd qualifier..Which turned out to be his last one as the race was shortened to a two qualifier event..
Which was much appreciated by many even if it was a little unfair for those that gambled their 2nd qualifier away before the announcement was made..Thats OK though..It was a great day for sure and a decision had to be made..
The R/C Kid didn't come home with a Top 3 Main trophy, but Boytoys added a little fun to this race with a new class...Drifting!!...Remember that Rally car on ice I mentioned..Turns out that although he didn't have the speed advantage he was looking for, he did have an awesome drifting car..And even though he was loose, he was handling it very well and is now the proud owner of the first ever 2004 Boytoys TCS Drift Master award..
Makes a Dad proud!!..
Then the R/C Guy goes and does something stupid..Need more juice in your battery..Just peak the heck out of it...

OK..It wasn't a great idea, but at least it proves we can all still learn stuff...$100 battery is now a paperweight..Do Not Try This At Home Kiddies!!!
Anyhow..This has now become one of my favorite TCS events of the year..I have a few now...Thats one thing about TCS races..They are a lot of fun..This is the last qualifying race of the season and I think it went out with a bang..We have a huge list of racers ready to put it all on the line at the Canadian TCS Finals at Jack Astors..
A reminder to those of you who are attending this race..You need to register or you won't be able to run..Contact Tom Wright at Borgfeldt and get signed up ASAP..Think I'd better do the same..Tom tells me that the track will be open for practice at 6am'ish...They want to get an early start because of the amount of entries this year...
So get signed up..Get some sleep...Let's go racing..

I'm outta here..

2004 TCS Finals-Jack Astors (Scarborough) August 8th:

Testimonials:

What a great event..As I've come to expect from the Canadian Tamiya Championship Series..
It was an early start for most at this event..I was told 6:30 AM and didn't quite do that myself, but I talked to people that arrived at around 5:30 am..Wow..Thats pretty early..Hope they got tons of track time..
After arriving I made my way to the computer table and signed in..I received my hand-out silver can motor for the M-Chassis event..
I noticed Tom Wright breaking in silver cans and asked him to do mine..He was more than willing to help out..I've been interested in this for some time but was always a little dubious of droppin' my new motors in a container of water..Water and electrics shouldn't be mixed(at least thats the way it was in shop class)
For a measilly $200 you can be the proud owner of this cool toy Tom was using..Its a Peak Performance Vantage Motor Tuning System

It runs your motor at a predetermined power level and monitors just about anything and everything that needs to be monitored..My silver can went from a power draw of .89 to about 1.12 after two minutes of breaking in at low volts..
That may not seem like much, but its probably good for an extra lap on the track where all cars are equal and tuning, driving skill and motors are the only differences..And those differences can be very minimal..
By the way..Just for the record..My "handout" motor from last year's TCS finals was what I ran all this year..I had it dyno'd at the Boytoys event and it was pulling similiar numbers to the one I had broken in by Tom at this year's TCS finals..Just so you know that breakin' in is helpful and the more you break in these motors the better they become..Of course there are limits..Steve Fowler had his silver can broken in at last years North American finals in California..It was very fast but only lasted one race..Wow..Thats pretty close to the edge..
The benifit of having this Peak Performance Motor Tuner though, is that instead of breaking in my silver can all year, one race at a time, I was able to get those numbers in two minutes..Very nice!!
I've worked on my car all year and am convinced that it is just as fast as everyone else's, so at this event I was concetrating on driving lines..I had thye motor, the batteries and the tuned car and I was still down two laps at the last event..This time I moved up and was very happy to be within one lap of the fast guys and I attribute that to my driving lines..I only did it once but I proved to myself that I could go faster..And thats something to build on..

Here is Tom's Hand..Breaking in my motor..How cool is that..Mr. Tamiya Canada himself is breaking in my motor..Nice to know people eh??..But seriously, I don't want to speak for Tom and have him breaking in everyone's motor at the next event, but it doesn't really matter who you know or what you know..Tamiya Reps like Tom and Martin Crisp and Derek Hung and Corey Whiteman, to name a few, are always on hand and ready to assist whenever possible..Think your question is silly..Think again..Tamiya Canada is very big on educating young and old, new or experienced racers and assisting in making R/C racing in Canada as popular as it is becoming..
In fact, I challenge anyone to ask any question and come to me and tell me they weren't happy with the response they got..
And I say "good for them"...This sport is getting huge in Canada and the Canadian TCS has played a large part in that and for that reason alone I think its good to join in..Be part of an ever expanding fun event and hobby..It can only get bigger..

Here are the cool Tamiya Rides lined up for the Concourse event..This is usually a pretty popular evrent and guys spend a lot of time and energy on paintin' and trickin' out their rides..Its great to see all that hard work appreciated at the track and everyone gets a look at what can be done for a really nice looking ride..
And I'm sure that Team Tamiya likes to see what racers in Canada are doing with paint cans these days and how a box stock kit might look after a few guys let their imagination run wild..

As in a previous event this winner is a master with the airbrush..His purple Mini won at the Hobby Hobby TCS event and now his yellow mini gets the spotlight..Derek Hung was the judge of this event and asked the racers present for the judging to cheer for the cars he picked as finalists to determine the winner..Nice job..

Team Tamiya Champions, Martin Crisp and Derek Hung are on hand as usual..Their assignment at the '04 TCS finals is the role of Techin' the cars before and after the race..And always ready to answer any and all questions..Think techin' isn't necessary??..Martin found somew tires that were illegal and disqualified the racer..Mistake maybe??..Nope,..The brand name on the tires was actually filed down..Some people's kids, eh??..I was shocked to hear of this..It has no place in this form of racing and cudos to Martin for catchin' it..I feel this is a bit of a scar on this event and I wasn't gonna mention it..But it happened and it does seem appropriate to me to point it out..Come to TCS races to have fun..Don't come to cheat..Its not welcome and I for one wouldn't want to win a trip to California with an illegal car..

Tom Wright e-mails me previous to this event and says he will be having an F1 car on display..Totally hush hush etc..I say, Wow..How the heck did you do that.??
Bar Honda shows up at the track and roles out this beautiful looking race machine..As promised by Tom..
Unfortunately, we didn't have anyone running Bar Honda colours so we had to settle for this HP ride instead..Made for a pretty cool pic though..I made sure no Ferraris got anywhere near this Bar Honda..It was my personal assignment of the day..Great looking car and it was a pleasure to talk to the Honda Rep and get a close up look and an awesome racing machine..I think thats what makes F1 and Cart so popular..These cars are built purely as race machines..There are no fancy bumpers or body lines as in Nascar..Everything about this car is speed. From the ground up...Designed as a race machine, not a car that races..
"Factoid"..Theorectically these cars have enough down force to run on a ceiling upside down..Or upside down track if you like..

A look at the drivers stand..Can't really name everyone but I can tell you that the guy on the left is the 2004 TG10 Champion, James Denis..
A great race day for James..Finishing first in Nitro and 5th in the other classes he entered..Too bad the Nitro class doesn't go to California, eh?
Roger Schwind, seen below the driver's stand, was the official race co-ordinator of the day..Great job as in previous years Roger..
Might just be me, but I always find those glass buildings in the background to be great for pic takin'.. Anyhow..Great event..Congrats to all the winners and to Dino Delemos, Sunny Lee, Corey Whiteman and Jarrod Leis..You guys are going to California..Best of luck to you..We'll be cheering for ya..

And special Fanx from me to Tom Wright, Derek Hung and Martin Crisp..You guyts gave us a great year again and I look forward to doing it again
Special Fanx also goes out to our host clubs this year..Every race was great..We had our first ever rained out race at John's, but other than that it was awesome.. Hope you are all on board next year and I look forward to racing at your clubs again..Go TCS!! (The R/C Guy)

Tom,i want to thank you for puttin up another great race day...Had a blast...Well orginized and well Ran...Lookin forward to next year (James Denis)

Thanks to Tamiya Tom and all those that put on the TCS Finals yesterday! Friends Don't Let Friends Race Sedans (RealMenRaceMinis)

Thank you to everyone who attend the 2004 Canadian Tamiya Nationals. The day ran well, until the rain came down! It was great that everyone was ready to go after the rain stopped! We have some great pics of the Mini's and Rally cars racing in the rain! (Tom Wright)

THANK YOU AGAIN on behalf of our TEAMBOYTOYS and other customers.
It was very nicely organised and we have currently in production a video covering the day and will be available free on our website or CD ROM.
Congratulations to all the winners and racers who have enjoyed the day. We'll see you soon again..

2004 TCS North American (California) August 8th:

Here is how Team Canada stands heading into today's TCS North American Championship competition:

Martin Crisp has absolutely "toasted" the competition! The way that the Past Champions Throw Down match is set-up, there are seven heats, with points being awarded based on how you have finished in each heat. After four rounds Martin has won them all, therefore making him the undisputed CHAMPION!

Derek Hung is also racing in this category and currently is in 6th position with three rounds still remaining. GO DEREK! (and thanks for all the photo's-how does he drive and snap at the same time?).

Corey Whiteman in GT1 is currently 2nd overall heading into the Triple "A" Main. Simply amazing stuff!

Jarrod Leis is ripping the track apart in his Mini, and currently sits in fourth heading into this afternoon's event.

Dino Delemos has proven himself an awesome driver, and even after being held up severely in traffic during Saturday's races, he sits in 6th position so far.

Sunny Lee in the GT2 category currently sits in 8th position, but remember there are still a few more races to go! Rip it Sunny!

FINAL RESULTS:

In the first round of Mains, all of the Canadian racers started to feel the pressure of the TCS. Jarrod came in 4th, Dino's out drive let go right at the start rendering his car useless, Sunny was off the pace and came in 9th, while Corey crashed out at the first corner. Corey regained his composure and fought his way back to 2nd place.

The second round of heats offered some hope for Team Canada with both Jarrod and Dino claiming first place in their respective classes. Corey and Sunny were still struggling to find set-up that suited them, they crossed the line 8th and 10th respectively.

By the time the third round of mains came up, Team Canada was really starting to become frustrated. Jarrod was flying through most of this heat, however his car started to become unstable and was forced to settle for 4th. Dino was in a classic F1 struggle, running in 3rd place and literally right on the tail of the second place car, with the fourth place car tucked up under his rear wing. As the group rounded a corner they came upon an accident in progress and crashed out themselves. Dino lost his antennea and as a result was suffering from horrendous clitching, and rolled back to 9th. Corey started his race out in first but with a really overly excited crowd of GT1's behind him. As he braked for the first turn the freight train of cars slammed into him, shooting his car literally across the track. That's a heck of a shunt! Corey managed to fight his way from the back of the field to finish second. You can imagine how he would have finished if he hadn't been forced to take a flyer? Sunny drove his heart out all weekend, and even though he was down in the standings, he never gave up. This guy is like the Terminator, he just keeps coming and coming until he catches you. He is a much better driver than this race's results show. Sunny Lee came in 9th.

Martin Crisp has proven that he is simply the undisputed TA04 GOD, no question! He continued his charge in the remaining three heats by winning each and every one! This guy is simply unstoppable! Derek struggled to find a set-up that suited both him and the track for the entire weekend. His car continued to under steer through the chicanes for each and every heat, nothing seemed to work. In addition to his own troubles he has been busy helping everyone with their own engines and car set-up, as well as taking these amazing photo's. Derek finished up 7th overall.

Thomas Wright has tirelessly set-up and coordinated this entire trip for Team Canada, in addition to all of our Canadian TCS events throughout the year, so a nod of thanks to you!

We here at Borgfeldt Canada are very proud of our drivers, it was a huge task to send our team to California, let alone to race non-stop for two days straight (and to practice before the races for yet another two days). Everyone worked extremely hard throughout this amazing event! Thank you.
